Boulder Cello Lessons

Growing up in Northern Michigan, Philip Parker was heavily exposed to the arts through the Interlochen Arts Academy as well as coming from a musical family.  He has studied with such notable teachers as Cripsin Campbell at the Interlochen Center for the Arts who was a student of the great cello pedagogue Margaret Rowell, Jean Coonrod, Elizabeth Bert and Judith Glyde of the University of Colorado. He has attended numerous summer festivals including the University of Indiana Summer clinic, Maple Mount Festival, New Harmony Chamber Festival, Interlochen and the Madeline Island Music Festival where he was in contact and took lessons from a variety of teachers including Brandon Vamos of the Pacifica Quartet, Felix Wong of the Blair school of music, George Work of the Ames Piano Quartet, Kurt Baldwin of the Arianna Quartet and Yeesun Kim of the Borromeo Quartet. 

Along with a strong classical background, Philip plays in a variety of American roots music groups in the Boulder/Denver area including the Paper Stars and Gregory Alan Isakov’s band, The Freight.  Philip is currently a student at the University of Colorado’s College of Music and will graduate with a Bachelor of Music in the spring of 2008.
