Voice Lessons - Boulder CO

Ana Tipton is a professional pianist and instructor new to the Boulder area. She has been playing piano for over 18 years and is receiving a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Music (Emphasis in Jazz Studies) from Western Connecticut State University. Western Connecticut State University's music department is a nationally accredited school of music and the jazz studies program ranks among the top state university music programs in the country.

Ms. Tipton has had years of success performing and teaching throughout Connecticut and the greater NYC area. Ana's personal performance focus is Jazz\Bossa Nova solo piano, but her versatility and experience continue to open many other doors for her. Ms. Tipton has had the pleasure of performing and instructing in general, classical, rock, jazz and broadway styles- in addition to teaching students of all ages, and levels. Ms. Tipton is an enthusiastic performer and instructor and is excited to be a part of the Lesson Studio!

Julia Tobiska, mezzo-soprano, is currently a second year masters candidate in vocal performance at the University of Colorado at Boulder. A native of Washington State, she received her B.A. in vocal performance from Western Washington University. Ms. Tobiska has studied voice nearly ten years and piano for twelve years.  She has wide-ranging experience in performance including opera, oratorio, musical theater, experimental theater, piano performance, and countless years in choirs and small vocal ensembles.

This fall Ms. Tobiska was seen as Sister Helen Prejean is the powerful journey of Dead Man Walking at CU Boulder.  Other recent performance credits include Colorado Light Opera’s productions of South Pacific (Bloody Mary) and Man of La Mancha (Antonia) and CU Opera’s Orfeo ed Euridice (Orfeo), West Side Story (Somewhere soloist), and Die Zauberflöte (Dritte Dame).  Last May she performed numerous new works as part of the Virginia Arts Festival’s John Duffy Composers Institute as a Singer in Residence. 

Ms. Tobiska is extremely excited be a part of the teaching staff at The Lesson Studio.  Its philosophy of “music made fun” combined with her enthusiasm to help her students expand their musical potential is an essential part her teaching practice.

Theresa Egan received a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has also studied piano for 18 years. Ms. Egan has taught private voice lessons for four years and private piano lessons for six. She is currently a member of Opera Colorado’s Chorus and was last seen in their production of Un ballo in maschera in May 2007. Other performance highlights include Zerlina in Colorado University’s Opera Scenes, Cinderella’s Mother in “Into the Woods” and as Gabriel in Hayden’s “Creation.”

Ms. Egan has studied classical and musical theater repertoire extensively, however she feels that music should be fun and always encourages her students to study the music that they are interested in. During her lessons she emphasizes technique, theory, diction and interpretation. She has experience with students of all ages and abilities. Ms. Egan is very proud and excited about joining the staff at The Lesson Studio.
